No blog this week, sorry everyone!
Instead I thought I’d give a quick update, which is that I’ll likely need to start writing shorter blogs from here on out. As much as I love the heavily researched piece, sometimes they take nearly as much time as a part-time job and that’s not very feasible for me at the moment.
That said, I’d love to know what topics you all would be interested in. Please feel free to drop a comment or reach out directly with rail-related subjects! It’d be great to write some pieces attempting to answer any questions you all may have.
Here’s a list of the topics I’ve covered to date (not including the more news-oriented posts):
Boston Case Study (1/30)
Benefits of New Rail Cars (2/27)
Subway Safety (3/12)
Transit-Oriented Development (3/26)
Los Angeles Case Study (4/9)
Rail Track Redundancy (4/30)
What’s missing from this list for you? Let me know! And with that, I’ll be back next week. Cheers!

Hi Ian: Unless covered in earlier blogs, a possible interesting subject would be the cost-benefit analyses and/or comparisons of various rail options/opportunities/needs in order to determine where are the best bangs for the buck. Another possible topic is to compare the plusses and minuses of investment in rail transportation versus investments in other climate change mitigations. Related to these would be: Where should governments, philanthropists, or NGOs best spend their climate mitigating dollars; and where on the list of priorities would rail transportation be? Enjoy your time off between jobs, and then enjoy your new one. Love, Herb
